If you read my previous post last week about how getting a book published is like running a marathon, then you understand the title of this post. But I suppose you need a little more context to understand why marathon number two is up next: I finally crossed the first finish line, and the last mile happened quickly!
That’s right, I am officially agented!!! I signed the contract today. I can’t even begin to explain how I feel right now. It’s all so surreal. Nine months of querying. Nine months of rejections. Nine months on an emotional roller coaster. Nine months to get here today. I said I feel like I just gave birth––nine months of carrying around all the weight, and although I’m rid of that, the hard work begins again, like caring for a newborn. There will be edits/rewrites/revising and querying publishers, and that’s why marathon number two starts now.
Once again, it’ll be the same process; submitting to numerous editors at publishing houses, waiting for responses, and receiving multiple rejections. I’ll take a deep breath, put one foot in front of the other, and maintain my stamina until I reach the next finish line––selling my book to a publishing house.
But for now, I will reveal in the glory of this huge milestone. Oh, and of course, I get to spend my rejection monies on a nice bottle of champagne!
Congratulations my friend! Keep it up! You’ve got this!❤️
Hurray!, Well done, you deserve it…
Thank you!
